Animals and Hollidays
Every year in the Holliday (vacacion) time we read or hear in the Dutch news that people bring their animals to an animal asylum. Some people are just worser and putting their dog on a tree, let the cat on the street or release their rabbits in the wood.

Because they wanne go on Holliday the animal is to much.
I think people wo take an animal knowing that it could give problems in Holliday time, but try to bring it to family.
Today on the news was that only today an asylum gets 8 rabbits from people who are on holliday. Bringing them to the asylum means they do not wanne have it back.
I wanne know are only we in Holland doing this or happens this also in other countries?

You can remove a child from WAR, but how do we remove WAR out of a child.

RE: Animals and Hollidays
i've seen this a lot of times because i work at the animal shelter. people can't find a babysitter to their animals so they dump their cat/dog/rabbit in a forest or at a tree.
so stupid. i think it happens to a lot of countries. more then we think

RE: Animals and Hollidays
Worst is to me are the kind of people who actually throw their animals out of the driving car at the highway or set them free at the highway lay-by. That is the worst. I admit having lots of animals and wanting to go on vacation is sometimes hard to combine if not hardly possible and that can get difficult at times. But this is just no way to tread a living creature. Rather animal shelter than the highway I think. Best way would just to no go if you have nobody to look after your little feller. I don't know about other countries but we have that in Germany almost every year again. Last time I heard about it was this year it was a little dog and he actually survived the fly out of the car window but this is simply cruel and inacceptable.

Yes, it is terrible, and I cannot understand it. If you look around on the internet, there are so many places you can go on holiday WITH your dog. I have a dog for 2 years now. When it was 20 weeks old, we already took it with us to Croatia and that went very well. And in a few weeks we are heading for the German Eiffel. We go on holiday WITH our dog, or we stay at home!

RE: Animals and Hollidays
I get horrifed when i see abandoned animals.
In July, me and some friends including my mom, we found a cute litlte dog in a coffee. She was beging for food to everyone. She is so cute. My mom took her, and gave her to her friend who has two children. Now, she is really happy with us. I don´t know wich time she was on the street already, because she was really tiny.
But in the next day at the home of our friends who keep the dog, lady felt of the 7.floor, but thank god she was safe and nothing broken, and she was pregnant, we didn´t knew. Only one month after. We had to took the puppys from her, because we hadn´t conditions to take care of 3 puppys. It was the right decision.

She is happy now, playing, eating well, and i can tell you- She is a great friend of us. <3.

RE: Animals and Hollidays
We have the same problem here in Denmark, but we also have problems with people who has been on vacation in summerhouses and they have found a little kitten, then they have given it food and shelter while they been there, but when they leave they don't take the kitten with them or take it to a shelter, they just leave the kitten to take care of it self, and that really makes me sad as well. Everytime we are going on vacation or away for more then 3 days our cat is send to a "catsitter" it's a cat pension where your cat can stay, they feet, cuddle, social your cat while you're away (this cost money but not much) and I've no problem leaving Fyffes there because I know he is been taking good care of and that they will take him to the vet if he gets sick or what ever. We have been used the same place for over 7 years now, both to our old cat and to Fyffes, this I would recomend everybody who has pets to do then you can go away and be sure that your pet is safe.

RE: Animals and Hollidays
It's really awfull when people do this because when you will have animals, you also have to take responsibility for them! When we are going on holiday my sister in law always looks after the cat and the rabbits.....
